The LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau is happy to welcome Super Boat International back to Michigan City for the Second Annual Great Lakes Grand Prix, to be held Aug. 3-8, 2010, at the beautiful Washington Park Beach on the southern shore of Lake Michigan. The world’s top drivers and throttle-men and fastest offshore powerboats illuminated Michigan City in 2009, bringing more than 80,000 spectators to the park and injecting more than $5 million into the local economy. Reaching speeds of nearly 150 miles per hour as they pass within 50 yards of the beach, these sleek speed machines will again create thunder on the lake and on land, as well, giving spectators the opportunity to feel the rumble of thousands of horsepower and to meet the teams as they station their boats in the dry pit area of parking lot 1.
