Back in May NITDC-Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission-partnered with Midwest Living Magazine to come up with a Northern Indiana Foodie Trail. The LaPorte County Convention & Visitors Bureau being one of seven counties that make up NITDC was happy to help in choosing four local restaurants for the trail.
The campaign started out using social media, primarily our facebook page, to announce the trail and start taking suggestions from our followers. We posted about the trail asking for suggestions about three times a week until June. At that time we had to narrow down the suggestions that we received and turn over the most popular 6 or 7 to Midwest Living.
Midwest Living then made a trip to our area to dine at each of the locations we suggested. From their experiences at our local eateries, they then narrowed the list down to the final four restaurants. We received word earlier this week of which four local restaurants made it onto the trail.
We would like to announce the four finalists for LaPorte County that are part of the Northern Indiana Foodie Trail. Congratulations to Heston Super Club and Mucho Mas, both of LaPorte! Congratulations to Shoreline Brewery and Sahara Restaurant both of Michigan City!
The LaPorte County Convention & Visitors Bureau is so proud of all of our local restaurants and so happy for the four restaurants that made it onto the trail. A map of the trail will be available on the Dining & Nightlife page of our website very soon. The map includes the finalists from all seven counties and information on each location.
Additionally, Midwest Living will produce a series of interactive slideshows and blogs to promote the culinary scene in each of the seven counties. Keep an eye out for those as well. And if you can’t wait until the map, slideshows, and blogs are available, all of the finalists can be found on each counties website they are located in. Links to the six other counties that make up NITDC can be found at the bottom of each page of our website. Check out LaPorte County’s finalists on the Dining & Nightlife page of our website. http://www.michigancitylaporte.com/things-to-do/dining
