Brews and Wine Tour

The craft beer craze has arrived in LaPorte County. From malty stouts to tart pale ales, local brewers fine-tune each recipe. Today, LaPorte County has more operational breweries than ever. Most of these breweries are locally owned and operated using local ingredients. Come for a visit and get to know the artisans behind our favorite brews.

Back Road Brewery, LaPorte

Back Road Brewery, opened 1996, is LaPorte’s first production craft brewery. Tour the eclectic, industrial atmosphere while sipping on a sample. They rotate as many as 40 different recipes each year and growlers/bottles are available for sale, so be sure to take home one of your favorites.

Burn ‘Em Brewing, Michigan City

Check out this unapologetic brewery that first opened its doors in 2013. With walls plastered with art, a food menu of bar favorites and a beer list busting at the seams, the best way to experience it is to just dive in.

Shoreline Brewery & Restaurant, Michigan City

This award-winning brewery always has 12 different beers on tap. If you can’t decide, order a flight. The all fresh food menu has a dish that complements whichever beer (or beers) you choose.

Zorn Brew Works, Michigan City

The story begins in 1871 when Bavarian immigrant, Philip Zorn Jr., started opened the Zorn Brewing Company. It eventually closed, but was given new life over 140 years later. Come discover the tasty selection of expertly crafted beer and stop by for lunch or one of their nightly parties.

Shady Creek Winery, Michigan City

If lagers and porters aren’t your style, Shady Creek Winery in Michigan City will have what you’re looking for. Learn about different vintages and their award-winning wines at the tasting bar at this lovely winery with the sprawling views and cozy fireplace. Or relax outdoors and enjoy live music on special nights.

The Brewery Lodge, Michigan City

Once you taste these delicious brews and wines, you’re going to need stay awhile. The recently opened Brewery Lodge is a 14-suite boutique hotel located on a beautiful 31-acre wooded tract filled with streams, ponds and wildlife and is the perfect setting for a relaxing yet fun brewery/winery tour getaway.
