First Fridays & Home/Lifestyle Expo

First Friday Art Walk
Michigan City’s Uptown Arts District welcomes everyone to another great First Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. March 2 in the Uptown Arts District (Franklin Street-11th to 4th Streets, west to Wabash and east to Pine Street). The Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts along with businesses, shops and restaurants, open their doors and host artists and their works for the special event each month. Meet the artists who display everything from paintings and photography to sculpture and quilts. While you’re out and about, peruse the shops that feature jewelry, vintage finds and more, and enjoy a cup of coffee or meal at one of the area’s great restaurants. The event is sponsored by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association.

First Friday at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts
Live music, craft beer and an intriguing new art exhibit combine for a special First Friday event at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts from 5 to 8 p.m. March 2 in Michigan City. Admission is free for the festivities, featuring the musical duo of Cat Man Dog performing a mix of catchy tunes. Michigan City’s own Burn’Em Brewing will offer tastings, and light bites will be served. A cash bar also will be available. Take advantage of browsing the Lubeznik’s galleries, all open for the evening. A must-see is Birds and Bees, a new exhibition featuring the works of 10 artists who share their personal interpretations of birds or bees through drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, video and mixed media.
