Summer Fun in LaPorte

Spend a week or a week-end in or around the City of LaPorte and have some fun. There are several events right around the corner including the LaPorte County Fair, plus 2 unique museums, great antique shopping and music and art.

The LaPorte County Fair is coming. Each year the fair is complimented with large exhibiting commercial, industrial, and consumer products. Pioneer Land will be in full swing throughout the fair, along with 4-H exhibits, an amazing array of food, and of course the rides.

This year marks the 173rd LaPorte County Fair, making it one of the oldest in the state. It’s rolling into town Sun, July 8– Sat, July 14, 2018. Headliners Kane Brown and Joe Diffie and Pat Green promise two epic nights of awesome concerts. Demolition Derbies in the grandstands are a must-see.

If it is “Fair Food” you are looking for, then you can’t resist the fried favorites found at the fair – corn dogs, elephant ears and blooming onions. Corn on the cob, cotton candy and the Ham & Bean Dinner are delicacies and not to be missed.

When you are finished with all of that, take a whirl on the Gravitron, a spin on the merry-go-round or ride on the Ferris wheel. Don’t forget to test your luck at the midway.

The 4-H crowd has mastered more than just husbandry. See the latest and greatest in Indiana agriculture and horticulture, admire needlework, handcrafts and flowers, then take in all the foods, pies and cake that these masters have concocted.
